Above all else the farmer comes first

Company History

The family’s entry into agriculture came in the early 1960s when Thomas Jeary noticed that many farmers were purchasing drugs for their animals from the local chemist. Seeing a significant gap in the marketplace, in 1967 he set up Jeary’s Agricentre, the UK’s first ‘agricultural supermarket’.

During its early years Agricentre operated from a single store in Calne. Over the next 40 years Thomas Jeary and his sons expanded the business across the central, south and southwest regions, with a commitment to providing a personal service to the rural and livestock farming community. However increasingly, the company now draws on the expertise and enthusiasm of non family members as the business continues to grow.

In 1985 Agricentre was granted a Royal Warrant to supply animal health and hygiene products to Her Majesty the Queen – a certification it holds with pride to this day.

The company now operates from seven stores, with 16 SQP (POM-VPS) trained area representatives servicing the region's farms who provide first class technical service and advice.

Agricentre will continue to provide a service specifically and solely directed to the farmer and aim to make the latest technological improvements available as well as to provide all the day to day basic farming needs and continue to grow and develop to meet the ever changing farming methods and requirements.
